Love Hard screenings and Q&A Thu 1st Oct 18.00 and 20.00

Love Hard (2014) is a work of docu-portraiture about BDSM and intimacy. In its inquiry into the loves and lives of 5 subjects, it presents nuanced, diverse, and thoughtful perspectives on how kink can function in our lives – as a practice of art or intimacy, as a mode of expression or release, as an iteration or an obliteration of self, as a way to play, a way to love, a way to be ordinary.

The film’s producer and co-director, Gala Vanting of Sensate Films, will be joining us after the screening for a discussion about the film and some of the issues it raises. There will be time for audience Q&A as well.

The Kennington Walk, aka Princes and Paupers - Saturday 3rd Oct at 10.45 outside Kennington tube station. £10, £8 concs.

Could you flag up that I am leading the a Kennington walk Princes and Paupers, Saturday  3rd Oct at 10.45 outside Kennington tube station. £10, £8 concs.
The Kennington Walk, aka Princes and Paupers: This walk around lovely Kennington that takes in a rare spirit door, Rural Economy, Charlie Chaplin and the worst disaster of the Blitz in Lambeth. There’s an Indian restaurant that is patronised by MPs of all parties, and it finishes conveniently close to a friendly pub that serves food. We get to spend time in a park, walk through a Farmers’ Market, find out where Pierce Brosnan started his acting career, and shiver to tales of public executions. What more could you want?

Thanks
Isobel

BUILDINGS PLANTLIKE GREW... A WALK AROUND SE1

Friday 11 September

Meet 6.30pm outside Kennington Underground Station; RSVP to editors@differentskies.net.

Over the past few months Different Skies writers collective and publication has been haunting the streets of SE1 and surrounds - from Vauxhall, to Kennington, to Elephant & Castle - documenting in photographs and poems a trail of demolition, displacement, and precarious alternatives to London's housing crisis. The project, supported by The Poetry School, culminates in a series of postcards to be released shortly. To celebrate, Different Skies is hosting a sunset walking tour with poets, community activists, historians, bloggers and musicians. We'll be visiting Different Skies' former HQ, Erlang House at St George's Circus, the ruins of the Heygate Estate, and the beautiful community gardens of Bonnington Square. A roaming discussion featuring presentations and readings from: John Boughton, author Municipal Dreams blog, James Hatts, editor of SE1website, Mary van der Water from Save Knight's Walk campaign, Silvia Rothlisberger from Latin Elephant and Richard Reynolds, aka the Guerilla Gardener.

National cycle to work day: how was your commute? | Environment | The Guardian

National cycle to work day: how was your commute? | Environment | The Guardian

Britain’s national cycle to work day is upon us once again ... From a blessedly quick pootle through leafy north London squares, I now ‘enjoy’ the grim climb up through Streatham followed by the whoosh down Brixton Hill, before briefly running along Cycle Superhighway 5 through Kennington,
which has seen improvements including genuine - if brief and slightly
confusing - segregation for cyclists ...
