Volunteer Invigilators Needed: Beaconsfield, London
This is a great opportunity to become part of a small friendly team and to gain experience in the running of a contemporary art space.We are looking for volunteers to help invigilate Beaconsfield’s programme of exhibitions, including our current exhibition, Fraternise – the Salon (April-May 2011). Our full future programme of exhibitions can be found on our website: http://www.beaconsfield.ltd.uk
A friendly and communicative manner is important as you will be the first point of contact for the public. Volunteer invigilators play a vital role in providing a warm welcome and introducing visitors to artworks. Duties include assisting with the smooth running of the galleries, switching on artworks and helping with set up at the beginning of the day, carrying out audience monitoring tasks and assisting with serving in the small café during busy periods.
The galleries are open Tuesday – Sunday, 11am – 5pm. Weekend and weekday volunteering shifts are available.

Fraternise – the Salon gathers a cohort of artists in a curated, fundraising exhibition, to support the future existence of Beaconsfield – the pioneering, non-profit organisation that has provided a laboratory and presentation space for artists since 1995.
Beaconsfield is an artist-led entity that specialises in encouraging artists to pursue projects of ambition and to experiment without commercial pressure. The Salon brings together collaborators, patrons and protégés who have worked with Beaconsfield or who support its role in the artists’ community.
The Salon offers a rare opportunity to view a diverse range of contemporary works (many artists exhibiting together for the first time) and to start or expand a collection. Sales will benefit both participating artists and Beaconsfield.
Fraternise – the Salon is co-curated by the charity’s artist-trustees, Rachel Howard, Judith Dean and artist-directors A. David Crawforth and Naomi Siderfin.

Renowned produced David Rose will peresent an illustrated overview of his career which began with Z Cars, included commissioning many dramas such as Licking Hitler and culminated with founding Film on Four and commissioning 136 films by directors such as Mike Leigh and Stephen Frears and writers Alan Bleasdale and Willy Russell. This will be a fascinating evening of anecdotes lavishly illustrated with clips.

Oval Farmers' Market special day 2 April
Come and enjoy the Farmers' Market
Now that the sun is shining, the Farmers' Market in St Mark's Churchyard at the Oval is in celebratory mood. Make a date to come to a special market on Saturday 2 April, when we will be marking the official granting of planning permission for the market to use the site. We have invited the new Mayor of Lambeth to join us.
Oval Partnership will also have a stall at the market where we will be updating you on the progress of the project to upgrade and landscape the St Mark's Churchyard area. Many of you will have been involved in the consultation last year and have been asking what's happening. We will hold a short Annual General Meeting at 10.30am, where we will elect officers for the coming year and present our accounts. Please try to attend that meeting to support us in our continuing work. If you would like to stand as a member of the management committee, please get in touch at contactovalpartnership@gmail.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday 2 April!

It initiated the weekly Farmers' Market, and is continuing to work on plans to upgrade St Mark's Churchyard. For more information please go to our website - www.ovalpartnership.org.uk/
