Canny international buyers may yet join this diverse set in Kennington as the neighbouring building boom sends prices soaring. Boardman’s first interest from abroad came two years ago from an enterprising Malaysian, who bought a Georgian house in Methley Street. The price per sq ft was a shadow of what he would have paid in Nine Elms. The buyer told his friends, and now Boardman and his colleagues are serving a small stable of Malaysian investors. Michael Keane celebrates people from Romans to the present day who have left a lasting legacy locally and further afield. These include:Chaplin, Tate, Ashmole, Tradescant, Sharwood, Claudia Jones, Henry Fawcett, Marjorie Porter and William Blake, Eric Gill, and Laurence Pomeroy.

Normally the third Monday in the month 6.45 for 7.15pm at the Durning Library.
Light refreshments. Everyone welcome. No admission charge, but a £2 donation towards costs is invited.
