St Mary, Newington

St Mary, Newington

I have set up this page to give information about the Robes Project. On Saturday nights from 4th January to the 22nd February the church will become a night shelter for the homeless. Guests are triaged through the Robes Project. The church organises the volunteers. We especially need people who can provide hot food for 20 or so guests - cook at home and bring along, we can pay for ingredients. We also need people who will just be there and hang out with our guests and chat. We need people prepared to sleep over. To help with breakfast. And to help with laundry. Will put more details up tomorrow. Training is at 5.30 this Saturday. Giles

So here are the things that we need volunteers for, Saturday nights/Sunday mornings from 4th Jan to 22nd Feb :

Evening shift: 6.45-9.45 Put out bedding, welcome guests, chatting with guests, help with supper etc. (need six volunteers)

Cook for supper: prepare food at home (we have money for ingredients) deliver food in good time for 7.30. Soup or a main course or pudding. For max 20 guests.

If you are interested in volunteering please e-mail penelopehigham@gmail.com, she is co-ordinating volunteers
