I notice you have been sharing details of walks.

I am leading the Walworth Old and New tour this Saturday. It starts outside Kennington tube at 10.45 and ends at the Artists' Open Studios. The cost is £10, or £8 for over 65s and full-time students. It is also Open Garden Squares weekend, and one of the yards is taking part, as is Walworth Garden Farm which we may be able to visit.

I shall be wearing my Blue Badge so people can recognise me.

There is no need to book, you can just turn up and pay on the day.

Ah, Mr Bond, we’ve been expecting you… in south London.

Those of us who live in close proximity to Vauxhall Bridge have had several
weeks of Daniel Craig (or at least his stunt double) razzing up and down
the Thames in a helicopter under the glare of huge arc lights, filming
scenes for the 24th official Bond film, Spectre.

Any disturbance caused is offset by pride in the benefits the franchise
brings to London. Now we’ve been told the choppers will be landing on
Sunday in my local green space, Kennington Park. I suppose that, after
24 films, truly exotic locations are hard to find.

Announcing a new meetup for the London Cultureseekers Group!

What:  'Charlie Chaplin' Guided Walk (RSVP here for 12:30pm or here for 3:15pm)

Where:  Kennington Tube Station (outside the station)

When:  Sunday 28th June at either 12:30pm and 3:15pm

Come along on Sunday 28th June at either 12:30pm or 3:15pm for a guided walk around Kennington on the early life of the comic genius; Charlie Chaplin!

I'm a massive fan of Charlie Chaplin, so I'll be the guide for both the walks.

About the walk
Charlie Chaplin was British and kept British citizenship all his life, even though he spent most of his adult life in America. 

He was born in Kennington, London on the 16th April 1889 and lived their until he was 21. He was born into and spent his early years in great poverty in (at the time) one of the poorest areas of London.  He joined a performing group in nearby Brixton and during a tour of the U.S was spotted performing by a scout for Sennett Studios, they signed him up and the rest is history!  He went on to star in 81 films mainly during the silent era and playing his 'Little Tramp' character in most of them.His life is a classic rags to riches story and in his films he was heavily influenced by his poor upbringing.  I will guide you round the streets visiting various places that influenced him, the houses where he lived as a child and describing the conditions of the area in late Victorian London.  I will tell you the story of his relationships with his mentally ill mother, alcoholic father and the close bond he had with his half brother Sydney.  Plus I will also talk about his stage understudy who also went onto become a world famous movie comedian.

I will finish the walk showing you the place where he learnt his famous comedy walk!

The walk is free to 'Full Members', but £5 for everyone else

The walk will last about 1h 45mins and we will end by going to a pub not far from Vauxhall Tube Station.
