BUILDINGS PLANTLIKE GREW... A WALK AROUND SE1

Friday 11 September

Meet 6.30pm outside Kennington Underground Station; RSVP to editors@differentskies.net.

Over the past few months Different Skies writers collective and publication has been haunting the streets of SE1 and surrounds - from Vauxhall, to Kennington, to Elephant & Castle - documenting in photographs and poems a trail of demolition, displacement, and precarious alternatives to London's housing crisis. The project, supported by The Poetry School, culminates in a series of postcards to be released shortly. To celebrate, Different Skies is hosting a sunset walking tour with poets, community activists, historians, bloggers and musicians. We'll be visiting Different Skies' former HQ, Erlang House at St George's Circus, the ruins of the Heygate Estate, and the beautiful community gardens of Bonnington Square. A roaming discussion featuring presentations and readings from: John Boughton, author Municipal Dreams blog, James Hatts, editor of SE1website, Mary van der Water from Save Knight's Walk campaign, Silvia Rothlisberger from Latin Elephant and Richard Reynolds, aka the Guerilla Gardener.
