Police blocking Kennington Road after the bomb was discovered 
Police shut down Kennington Road in Lambeth after an unexploded Second Word War bomb was discovered.
The bomb was reported in Fitzalan Street just before 4pm and was analysed before being removed from the area by police.
A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman confirmed that the item was found near Kennington Road, forcing the A23 closed at the junction with Kennington Lane.
A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said: "We were called at 3.54pm to a suspected unexploded World War Two ordnance in Fitzalan Street.
"The device has been removed."
The road went on to reopen at around 5.30pm.
