Tree of Hope Lighting Ceremony - Friday 15th November at 6pm

Dear Companions

At last we have positive news about the lights in the Tree of Hope at Kennington Cross

Some of you know that when TfL pruned the tree, they cut the cables - into shreds!
however, after much beavering in the background by many Companions, we have good news!

You will remember that when the Community initially raised funds for lighting the tree,
mostly through the Village Fete in Cleaver Square, we called it the Tree of Hope,
thinking mostly about the young people who experience appalling violence in our City,
indeed even in our own neighbourhood.

That Hope has prevailed and we are very honoured that the father of Damilola Taylor, Richard,
has kindly agreed to switch on our Lights at a ceremony on Friday 15th November at 6pm.

It'll be cold in November so Kennington Tandoori will provide a warm snack.

We do hope you can join us.

There is still a bit of fine tuning to do, such as a plaque to mark the occasion, transport from Peckham and back for Mr Taylor, funds to raise as a donation to the Damilola Taylor Trust by way of thanks, etc
If you fancy some 'beavering in the background', do please be in touch!

Many thanks to so many
Best wishes
Cathy
