Cllr Philip Normal

Oval Ward - Mayor of Lambeth

Dear Cllr Normal

I write to thank you for stepping up to speak to the Planning Meeting in support of our objections, especially against loss of light for those of us in basement flats.

I had a note from Cllr Wilcox confirming how the votes went:

Hello Cathy – the individual votes were recorded as part of the meeting and will be made available in the recording but the minutes usually just give the overall numbers. However, I just thought it would be easier to let you know that myself and Cllrs Simpson, Seedat and Kind voted in favour of the application and Cllrs Leigh, O’Hara and Thackray voted against.

Kind regards

Clair

Councillor Clair Wilcox

Streatham South

Chair, Lambeth Planning Applications Committee

We were very disappointed indeed that Cllr Simpson, of Princes Ward next door, and Deputy Chair of the PAC, actually voted FOR the development to go ahead, the deciding vote, as the others voted 3:3 FOR and AGAINST

You are the only one of our elected members to represent us, which we find baffling
No word from Oval Ward Cllrs Holland nor Hopkins - Leader of the Council
A late apology from Florence Eshalomi; too busy, not surprising as both our MP and GLA rep.
It rather flags up how poorly represented Oval Ward is; so your support is much appreciated

We are left exhausted after a difficult year in so many ways.

Some of us are to lose 100% of our daylight and Kennington’s charming heritage and conservation efforts of many years to be damaged as well

Perhaps the global pandemic will also kill off this development as so many are fleeing urban life for various reasons, some by choice and others forced out

Anyway, we do thank you for your support and wish you and yours all the best for the holidays

Best wishes

Cathy
