The trial continues
A GANG gunned down two Jamaican men in the street after following them out of a nightclub, the Old Bailey heard.
Eight men were allegedly involved in the attack on Gary Guthrie, 35, and Rowan Williams, 33, in Streatham.
The victims were confronted after leaving an event at the Starlight Rooms in the early hours of Monday, October 22, 2007.
Mr Guthrie was hit once in the chest and died after arrival at hospital while Mr Williams survived after surgery to remove a bullet from the base of his neck.
Junior Cameron, 26, Michael Wabara, 24, Ashley Thomas, 21, Darrell Albert, 28, Nathan Cross, 28, Courtney Hutchinson, 24, and Simon Rhodes-Butler, 32, are now standing trial for murder.
An eighth man, Byron Cole, has also been charged but is not before the court, jurors were told yesterday (Wednesday).
No motive has been found for the murder but surviving victim Rowan Williams believes that he was shot purely because he was a friend of Gary Guthrie, the court heard.
Rhodes-Butler and Cameron, of no fixed address; Hutchinson, of Nez Pearce Court, Christchurch Road, Tulse Hill, Thomas, of Coalville Terrace, Ladbroke Grove, Albert, of no fixed address; Cross, of Ashton House, Chryssell Road, Kennington, and Wabara, of Risley Avenue, Tottenham, deny murder and attempted murder.
Cameron and Albert both deny possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
The trial continues.
