Opportunity for website designer

Background: Kennington Oval and Vauxhall Forum aims to give the local community a voice, particularly with the Council and other public sector agencies. We are a consortium of local community organisations and are proud to count amongst our members the Kennington Association, Friends of Spring Gardens, Friends of Durning Library, the Cinema Museum, Vauxhall Gardens Community Centre, Riverside Community Development Trust and many other groups and local individuals. We have campaigned on issues such as the congestion charging and were part of the successful campaign to oppose the closure of the Lambeth Walk Post Office. We hold numerous public meetings and help public sector and other organisations to communicate with and consult our community.

We now have a small budget to pay for the creation and maintenance of a website to increase our local profile.

Required features are:

  • Purchase of domain name for three years reflecting both the geographic area covered, and the community focused nature of our organisation, e.g. kovforum@org.uk
  • In conjunction with our Chair, selection of appropriate keywords that will promote our website on search engines.
  • links to member organisations’ and other local websites like Vauxhallandkennington.org.uk , Riverside Community Development Trust, the Kennington Association and Vauxhall City Farm – list to be supplied by the client
  • Links to Lambeth Council’s home page (www.lambeth.gov.uk) photos (to be provided by the client) uploaded of local public consultation event and of our Board members
  • Twice monthly updates (to be provided by the client) of news about our meetings and local events, with our agendas and minutes uploaded
  • Upload of a short paragraph and contact details for groups and amenities in the area, particularly promoting our member organisations who do not already have their own websites. Such information will be provided by the client.
  • The option for various named KOV Board members or workers to be able to upload information direct.
  • The option for members of the public, once registered, to give their views

Applications should be submitted by email to the Chair, Mrs M D Johnston via forumkov@googlemail.com, by no later than 10pm on Friday 13 February 2009 with proposed budget breakdown of work, estimate of time required to create the website after provision of relevant material and a delivery proposal including examples of relevant experience, and proposed annual maintenance costs. The successful candidate will be selected on the basis of relevant experience, cost, quality of the delivery proposal and ability to deliver the website within two weeks of being offered the work. Payment will be made after the work has been completed satisfactorily.
