Vote for your park

Friday, 09 January 2009

MAYOR Boris Johnson’s “Help a London Park” vote, to win £400,000 for a “makeover” for a selected number of London’s parks, closes on January 31.

To secure money for your local park, please remember to vote as soon as possible.

At least one from each borough is on the mayor’s shortlist.

Up for the vote in Lambeth are Kennington Park and Spring Gardens, while in Southwark the choice is Camberwell Green or Dickens Square.

It may be difficult to choose between so many deserving parks and it’s a shame the mayor isn’t willing to fund more of them.

However, let’s not look a gift horse in the mouth.

You can vote by visiting www.london.gov.uk/parksvote or alternatively text “parks” and your full London postcode to 62967.

This will automatically vote for the nearest park on the shortlist to that postcode in the same borough.

Or you still have time to call 020 7983 4100 and ask for a postal ballot paper.

Boris has scrapped the Cross River Tram and Croydon Tramlink extension – it would be great to see him do something to actually benefit our part of South London.

London Assembly member for Lambeth & Southwark
