Quote "KA" for a special two-for-one offer for The Misanthrope in the newly-refurbished White Bear Pub.
The Misanthrope
By Molière (trans. Tony Harrison)
3rd – 22nd November 2009
Tues - Sat @ 7:30pm, Sunday 5:00pm
Presented by Black and White Rainbow
The dynamic Black and White Rainbow theatre company return to the White Bear Theatre with THE MISANTHROPE by Molière, in the UK premiere of the new translation by Tony Harrison.
Molière’s bitter classic comedy about gossip and status in a cynical society follows the perpetually bad-tempered Alceste on the evening he launches his personal tirade against dishonesty. Vowing to speak the truth to all who come before him, Alceste confronts lovers, potential lovers, friends and enemies, alienating acquaintances ruthlessly and hilariously.
Black and White Rainbow’s Madness in Valencia was TimeOut Show of the Week and number one on their critic’s choice list. The show played to sell-our houses, and is set to transfer to the Trafalgar Studios in the West End in February 2010.
Join Black and White Rainbow for their production of Molière’s classic social comedy as they explore the attitude to honesty in the 21st century with their uniquely thrilling and hilarious style.
"What Simon Evans's breathlessly pacy production illustrates is just how much enlivening fun can be had with a classic that hasn't been ossified by overuse... exemplifying the company's ability to lend contemporary hilarity to the text without deriding its original spirit."
Lucy Powell, TimeOut
Black and White Rainbow's previous show, Madness in Valencia, was top of TimeOut's Critic's Choice List and their Show of the Week. It is transferring to the Trafalgar Studios in Febuary 2010.
