Be part of one of the most exciting and innovative sporting events to come to
Lilian Baylis (Old School) will host an indoor temporary swimming pool from Jan 6th to Feb 15th 2009, the first of it’s kind in
It is anticipated that a 1000 local school children will benefit from being able to access swimming locally for many of whom it will be their first visit to a pool. This project is being facilitated by local partners, in conjunction with London Swimming, who are the regional arm of the asa (Amateur Swimming Association), the national governing body of Swimming.
Schools will be given the chance to book as much provision in the pool as is available. It is highly recommended that classes book for intensive learning courses, swimming everyday for 2 weeks. This will give swimmers and Teachers an optimum learning environment in which to maximise their achievements in the pool. The principle aim is to work towards pupils attaining their Key Stage 2 requirements in Swimming; however this project seeks to include all pupils and is ideal for Yr 7 children who may not have attained this award whilst in Primary education.
The asa appreciates that the school curriculum is very busy, however this wonderful opportunity is only here for 6 weeks and we would urge you to rearrange timetables where possible to ensure your pupils are part of this historic event. Bookings will be made through the Sports Action Zone (SAZ).
