Situation vacant: Freelance Co-ordinator

Kennington, Oval and Vauxhall (KOV) Forum has funding for a freelance Co-ordinator for a period of six months, starting as soon as possible. The role is to:

• Work closely with the Chair and Board members to draw up meeting agenda and reports
• Book meeting venues and refreshments
• Keep membership records up to date, guarantee their integrity, store the data securely and carry out backup regularly
• Create and maintain a simple website carrying details of the KOV, its meetings, news and links to community information
• Minute meetings (approximately six evening meetings a year)
• Circulate meeting agenda, minutes and other papers
• Invite guests to meetings and brief them
• Prepare a publicity and communications plan for Board agreement
• Implement the publicity and communications plan
• Prepare an outreach plan
• Draft applications for future funding
• Obtain public liability insurance cover for the Forum
• Prepare for AGM in June
• Manage the database, website and documents in a manner that can be handed over to a new co-ordinator smoothly

The successful candidate will have suitable computer equipment to enable them to carry out the role, access to the internet and Microsoft Excel and Word. He/she will have to demonstrate experience in:

· An administrative role and working independently

· Taking accurate, comprehensive and concise minutes

· Managing a contact list/database

· Publicity/communications

Local knowledge of the KOV Area and an understanding of local development frameworks, local area agreements, Government policy of public involvement, the changing role of local authorities and the expanding role of the third sector would be an advantage.

The hours required will vary from week to week; the total is not expected to exceed 125. Payment would be monthly on receipt of an invoice detailing the work undertaken

KOV attempts to involve all local community organisations, residents and businesses in influencing plans for the KOV area. KOV Forum is open to all living or working in the Lambeth part of Kennington, Oval and Vauxhall (the wards of Prince’s and Oval, plus Bishops as far north as Lambeth Road). KOV Forum elects a Board from amongst its members at the AGM in June.

KOV Board meetings are planned for, 18 March 2009, 22 April 2009

KOV Forum meetings are 27 January 2009, 9 April 2009, 9 June 2009
