MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO WINE THEFT
16 October 2009
A man from Kennington pleaded guilty to the theft of wine from a back of a lorry, at Tower Bridge Magistrates' Court last week.Mark Morrison, 38, of Dante Road, helped himself to the two half cases of wine when he spotted the vehicle parked up in Curlew Street, near the Shad Thames area of the borough.
The theft, which took place on August 27, was captured on CCTV and Morrison was tracked down and arrested on September 12.
His first appearance in court took place on September 24, where his case was put back until last week. He was on bail with one condition, that he did not enter the SE1 postcode except if he was on a 68 bus travelling through the Elephant and Castle.
His case was briefly put back so a fast delivery report could be prepared on him by the court's probation team.
However, on his return to the dock, probation asked for more time to prepare a more detailed account on Morrison.
District Judge Stewart Black agreed to their request and put Morrison's case back until October 29, when he will be sentenced. He was once again released on bail, although on this occasion no conditions were attached.
