Victim Gary Guthrie
A GANGSTER who gunned down a partygoer after following him out of a nightclub is facing a life sentence.
Junior Cameron, 27, shot dead 35-year-old Gary Guthrie, of Lakeview Road, West Norwood, during a stand-off in Streatham High Road.
Mr Guthrie’s friend, Rowan Williams, 33, was also hit in the neck as he fled but recovered after emergency surgery to remove the bullet.
The shooting took place after a party at the Starlight Rooms after 2am on Monday, October 22, 2007.
No motive was put forward at the Old Bailey trial.
On Friday, the jury found Cameron guilty of murder by a majority verdict of 10 to two.
Darrell Albert, 28, was convicted of attempted murder by a majority of 11 to one.
The pair will be sentenced on Thursday.
Albert may now face a retrial for murder and Cameron for attempted murder after the jury could not agree verdicts.
Prosecutors will make a decision before sentencing.
Speaking afterwards, Detective Inspector Stephen Horsley said: “It was certainly a night that will remain in the nightmares of anyone who was leaving the party.”
Michael Wabara, 24, of Risley Avenue, Tottenham; Ashley Thomas, 21, of Coalville Terrace, Ladbroke Grove; Nathan Cross, 28, of Chryssell Road, Kennington; Courtney Hutchinson, 24, of Christchurch Road, Tulse Hill; and Simon Rhodes-Butler, 32, of no fixed address, were all cleared of all charges on the direction of the judge due to lack of evidence.
Cameron and Albert, both of no fixed address, denied murder and attempted murder.
The two men will be sentenced today (Thursday).
