Mum of murdered Ashley speaks out

MURDERED rapper Ashley Kemete’s mum has sent out a message of pity to his killers – and warned they must be caught.

Speaking exclusively to the South London Press, Ashley’s grieving family told of their pain one week after the DJ was shot.

Talented Ashley, 20, was gunned down in a suspected gang hit just after 9pm last Friday in White Hart Street, Kennington.

His killers sprayed bullets from a handgun, blasting him four times.

It happened just yards from their stricken target’s home.

Ashley’s dad, who did not want to be named, said the family were still “in the dark” and had no idea who killed their student son.

He added that Ashley had a passion for football and died two weeks before he was due to release an album.

Ashley’s mum, who also did not want to be named, said: “We suffered the worst tragedy any family could suffer.

"Our son Ashley was shot and killed near his home. Ashley was a good, kind boy who everybody loved.

“Please help us find the people who have torn our lives apart.

“We know that some people have said things about about Ashley but, whatever he did in life or whoever his friends were, he did not deserve to die like this.

“As a mother I forgive the people responsible for his murder and feel sorry for their families.

"God will judge them in time.

“We could not bear to think that another family will have to go through this heartache we have.

"So what we want to do is identify the people responsible.

“We implore everybody, especially the young people of our community who may have information about Ashley’s murder, to come forward and speak to the police.

“We have complete confidence in the team investigating this murder and would ask that our community trust the police and give whatever information they can.”

Detectives from the Met’s specialist shootings team Operation Trident arrested three men in connection with the murder on Wednesday morning.

- Anyone with information should call the incident room on 020 8247 4553 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
